Register iPhone & iPad on KenyonDevices

  1. Make sure you have been disconnected from KenyonWiFi, KenyonDevices, KenyonGuest, and KenyonPublic for at least 30 minutes before starting these instructions. If you don't disconnect, device registration may not work.
  2. From the Home screen, tap Settings.
  3. Tap General, then tap About.
  4. On another device, go to clearpass.kenyon.edu.
  5. Enter your Kenyon username and your password, and tap Login. (Your username is the first part of your email address without the @kenyon.edu.)
  6. Click Devices at the bottom left of the screen, then click Create Device on the left side of the screen.
  7. Type in the Wi-Fi Address from your iPhone or iPad exactly as it is shown on your device, including capitalization and colons. For example, if your Wi-Fi Address said FC:AA:81:E9:5A:01, that’s what you should enter into the MAC address field in ClearPass.
  8. Enter a device name that describes your device, like Sam’s iPhone.
  9. Make sure Account Activation says Now and your Account Expiration is set to a year from now. (This is the longest a registration can be valid for, but you can always update your registration if it expires).
  10. Check the Terms of Use checkbox to agree to sponsor the device registration, then click Create.
  11. On your iPhone or iPad, go back to the main menu in Settings. Tap Wi-Fi, then tap the ⓘ next to KenyonDevices under Wi-Fi settings, then toggle Private Wi-Fi Address off. Then, tap Join This Network.

  3. Scroll down and tap About, then scroll down and find the Device Wi-Fi MAC address (not the regular Wi-Fi MAC address).
  4. On another device, go to clearpass.kenyon.edu.

Register other devices on KenyonDevices

  1. Before you begin, find and record the MAC address of your device's wireless antenna. This can usually be found in the Settings. Consult your owner's manual for more information (also see our page on finding MAC addresses of popular devices).
  2. To successfully register your device, you must disconnect it from the wireless network for at least 30 minutes after registering it. If you do not know how to turn off the wireless radio, power the device off. Leave the wireless radio or device off until you have completed the steps below.
  3. On another device, in a web browser, go to https://clearpass.kenyon.edu/guest. You can use a campus computer to do this.
  4. Enter your Kenyon username and password. Click Login.
  5. Click Devices at the bottom left side of the screen.
  6. Click Create Device on the left side of the screen.
  7. Enter in the MAC address of your device, using a colon (:) to separate each set of two characters. When you're done, the MAC address should be formatted like this: AB:C1:23:45:DE:FC.
  8. Enter a Device Name that describes your device to you. For example, you could enter Sam's iPhone or Rowan's Xbox One. The device name is used to identify a registered device to you.
  9. Select an Account Activation option to indicate when your device should start working on KenyonDevices.
  10. Select an Account Expiration option. This how long your device registration will be valid.
  11. Check the Terms of Use checkbox to agree to sponsor this device registration.
  12. Click Create.
