Yes. The Chalmers Library building is open to the public during any hours not limited to card access only, generally 8am-6pm Monday through Friday and noon-6pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
Additionally, Chalmers Library offers community borrowing privileges to members of Knox County. Community borrower cards may be requested in person at the Library Services Desk on Level 1, Monday through Friday only. Prospective community borrowers must provide the following:
proof of identification (driver's license or other state-issued ID)
if current ID card does not display a current mailing address, borrower must provide proof of address with a current bill
email and phone number contact information
Once approved, a public borrowing card is good for a period of one year from its date of issue. Community borrowers may generally borrow library books for a period of 3 weeks with 1 renewal allowed and a maximum of 12 items out at any one time. DVDs and other a/v material will not circulate.
